Pacific state of PapuaNew Guinea has been struck by A powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake, but tsunamiwarnings have not been issued.
US Geological Survey said that The earth quakestruck 89km (55 miles) from the second city of Lae
A hotel receptionist in Lae said that it wasvery, very big.
Because tremor hit deep and inland, it is unlikely to trigger a tsunami, said the Seismologists. The serious damage has not been reported yet
